How Do Ya Like Them Eggrolls?

OMG.

I am home alone. My sister is in Altoona (no joke!). My other housemates have moved out. Stevie is hiding from me after I poured water on him (he started it...) And the boyfriend is at Great Adventure. I think this calls for a Lucille Bluth kinda evening...

"Dun, DUN, DUN..."

Mama's talkin' loud. Mama's doin' fine. Mama's gettin' hot. Mama's goin' stong.
Mama's movin' on. Mama's all alone. Mama doesn't care. Mama's lettin' loose.
Mama's got the stuff. Mama's lettin' go.

(fast forward to 1:46 of the following youtube video for full effect):

...which for me means baking chocolate chip cookies and watching a Harry Potter movie.

"Ya freak b*tch!"

(Sorry mom! Franklin said it first)

Obsessing In The Night About It

...about my music mix, that is. Yes, I have made a Summer 2010 Mix CD! I know, I am crazy about the mixes this year, but it is a more engaging evening-activity than watching old episodes of Arrested Development on Netflix.

Alas, I have tried in vain, (IN VAIN, I TELL YOU!) to upload the cover art for my cd, but the computer gods have waged an unholy war against me, and I fear I may smash my sister's scanner/computer if I take this any further (thus, resulting in her smashing my face). Maybe when I am feeling less murderous/head-achey I will attempt to successfully upload it.

Anyways, I have tried to make this summer mix sound as similarly dreamy-sweet as these next two songs (both bands featured on the mix):

Beach Fossils // Window View from Wooden Lens on Vimeo.

The theme of the mix is summer and love, love, love.

Please tell me you want one. It makes me happy to make crafty things and then give them to people.

Whoa, it's 8 o'clock. Time to get my old bones to bed to see if I can fight off whatever bug has taken residence in my head/sinus-area.

Goodnight

Harsh

...Just payed Labcorp $820 for bloodwork that my health insurance is refusing to cover. I just have to rant that I have THE WORST health insurance company ever. I think it is time to suck it up and pay the ridiculously expensive premiums for Temple Health Insurance b/c this is just too much!

What a way to start the day!

Something Touched Me Today

Metaphorically, that is. (Huh?)

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were interviewing Tony Coleman, the director of a new documentary that's all about the ukulele. And he said something very sweet and sad that I could appreciate:

"For centuries, music was an integral part of our lives. All of us played music or knew someone who did. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century, the record player came along and all of a sudden we weren't good enough. We were encouraged to listen, to be passive listeners. And I think that we lost something very fundamental to our souls: making music together."

-Tony Coleman (Director of The Mighty Uke: The Amazing Comeback of a Musical Underdog)

I felt a little sad and sentimental-like about this very true statement, although some people may have been less-than-encouraging over the years in my own musical endeavors...

"TOOT!"

Anyways, here is a lovely little song you may have heard before that was featured on the radio segment this morning. I MIGHT HAVE shed a little tear!

*No I will not apologize for the cheesiness of this video*

C'mon, Iz so cute!

And don't worry, I'll be back to my non-serious-feelings-cat/snack-related blog posts soon.
